Ribbons and bows so everyone knows

mwa ha ha! extra memory *will* be mine!
no more cronky pc when playing wow, chatting to 4 people on msn, ripping a cd and listening to i-tunes at the same time!
I bought an extra 2gb last night for less than half the price the original gb cost me - probably could have got it cheaper but I bought the same brand etc as last time (it was super wazzy memory at the time - 2 years ago!) as they still had my order details on e-buyer. handy.
Am incredibly touched by something someone did last night - it has me completely flaberghasted in a good way. it's odd how things make you see someone in a different light.
in less good news I hear *another* group of my friends have suffered from the sudden loss of a friend, co-incidentally also called Sam - my thoughts are with them as well - it's been a sad week in Leeds. :(
looking forward to the weekend - will probably have a quiet night in on friday as I need to get the house ship-shape* for the viewing on Saturday afternoon - then I have
bikerfaerie coming over for the burlesque - and there's the possibility of noodles with
diceman still in the ether if he's attending. suppose I should find that out really.
*that should cause some confusion - which side is port and which is starboard? :P
I thought
viciouscabaret might appreciate my mood status although I probably have it the wrong way round. :)

Date: 2008-07-03 11:09 am (UTC)IIRC, XP can run a little funny if you have different-sized memory modules installed, though this is far from gospel truth.
Also, if you are in your house, looking towards the front, port is left & starboard is right. ;)

Date: 2008-07-03 11:36 am (UTC)The most you will ever have to worry about is matched DDR pairs, but they wont work if they are not identical pairs (if they are DDR)

Ye'd never make a pirate - wench :)
Additonal seafaring fact - the term ship shape comes from "shipshape and bristol fashion". The term developed most likely in view of the port of Bristol which had (before the Floating Harbour was constructed) a very high tidal range of 13 metres (43 ft), the second highest in the world. Ships moored in this area would be aground at low tide and, because of their keels, would fall to one side. If everything was not stowed away tidily, or tied down, the results were chaotic and cargo could be spoiled.
YARRRRRRRRRRR

Date: 2008-07-03 11:46 am (UTC)800mhz isn't that great considering you can cheaply pick up 2000mhz, but it does the job.
How much did you have before the upgrade?

Date: 2008-07-03 03:02 pm (UTC)Maybe you need a better CPU? You can only get som much from memory if the CPU is a tad crappy.
May i recommend a Core 2 Duo E4600, for £80 it's a pretty decent processor, X2 2.4ghz with an L2 cache of 2MB.
