just brain dumping - excuse the stream of conciousness whinging...

I went to the doctors a while back cos I was concerned about a number of symptoms. rapid weight gain, tardy weight loss, strong nausea when hungry in the late afternoon (but not in the mornings), heart palpatations (or adrenal rushes maybe) during times when nothing stressful or energetic was occuring, occasional sudden over-powering fatigue that doesn't seem connected to sleep patterns or owt.

The history to the weight issues were that I took 3.5 months off taekwondo up to around this time last year - a time of high stress when I was selling the house, moving and dealing with the financial dificulties of the club - and during this time I put on a stone and a half. a stone and a half in 14-5 weeks! I managed to lose half a stone of this when I got my nintendo wii (or possibly when I got the nonovirus in the spring - can't quite remember) but the other stone remained. Over the summer I managed - for the first time in years, to motivate myself to knuckle down and control my eating and was doing very well at being on a 1500 calorie diet on weekdays - eating a metric tonne of fruit and cutting out the crap - with less strict eating at the weekends but still not *too* bad. I did this for over 2 months. and I lost...1 or 2 pounds. I have of course now completely lost all motivation to diet and my daily calorie intake is back up to (or possibly exceeding) what it was before the diet. the 1-2 pounds are now back on and I can feel myself beginning to inflate.

soooo. back to the doctors - I got a set of blood tests done to see if anything was wrong. I mean it shouldn't *be* normal to put on a stone and a half in 3.5 months just cos you're missing a couple of hours of excercise per week should it? Went in to get the results today. I'm perfectly healthy apart from a marked vitamin B deficiency. I fully admit I don't eat a lot of veg - I'm a fruit person rather than a veg person - so I asked the dr what the vitamin b was in. his first answer... beans. BEANS? I have a full tin of 3 bean soup most days at work - I've just spent the last few days eating a giant beef and bean casserole I made. I eat a lot of beans. I *love* beans! wtf? how am I deficient in this?? he's perscribed me with some folic acid tablets. then I have to go back in 3 months. I have to say I'm confused as to how I'm deficient in something I eat all the time...
