PIE!

Ah my children, time for a brief poll.

As you may or may not remember, I've been planning to have a pie party early this year. Here are some possible dates which I'd like you to comment on:
22nd January
5th February
12 February

my only comment is that the 5th is the day after flock and as such may be too hungover for prolific pie construction and consumption.

now. definitions and rules:

• you should bring pie. you are not required to eat pie - I'm sure there'll be chips and dips too for the non pie eating amongst you


• sweet pie is acceptable.


• it's MY party and I get to define pie. for the purposes of this party pie is defined as: standard pie, cobblers, crumbles, pasties, filo parcels, samosa/spring rolly things, turnovers and suet puddings. other things of this ilk may also be pie - ask me. I might even allow quiche.


• shop bought pastry is permissable.


• shop bought pie is also permissable but discouraged.


• apple (and rhubarb I think) crumble, steak and kidney pie, chilli pasties and butter pie are already taken so you may have think outside the piecase on this one.


• the usual open invitation to all except people I dislike/can't bare to be in the same room as.

over to you pastry lovers...
(and yes wsogmm I'm aware that doesn't include you but I figure that some of the things on the list will be ok for you)

oooh, but the further you wander into february the closer you get to the utterly-statistically-acceptable-clustering of aquarian birthdays and a potential pie-day boycott. not the 12th i fear, not just for myself but a few others too.

Ummmmmmmmm PIE.

Well if I'm invited, and not dieting (since dieting at such an event would be impossible!), and can make the day you choose......

.....I'll do home made traditional cornish pasties. As close to how my gran used to make them as I can.....

Actually the odds of me not dieting are so low as to be almost nill..... damn. Allowed my self to run away with my self. OR something like that.

of course you're not. apple pie is acceptable as long as you make if sufficiently different to red's apple (and possibly rhubarb) crumble. assume this is possible as I found an entire book full of nothing but apple pie recepies once.
cheese and onion pie sounds nice also though. remember that it doesn't actually have to be a covered over pie in a dish...

oooh will the party have snowball cocktail things???...i blame you and beckie for my current entusiasuim for a drink which by all logical reasoning should be horrid.

my apple pie has spices and booze and other stuff in it and is from my step grans recipe...

and i tend to make mini cheese and onion tarts or pork and apple ones...they have pastry....and are bitesized so you can eat llots without feeling like you are!

must stop thinking about pie and get on with my work as am being taken to the cinema later and need to have some of it done by the time pob gets back.

I've NEVER heard such a fantastic idea in all mylife!!!! a party full of pies!!! How fucking great!! Pies are the best thing on the Gods' earth!

However, I have a small suggestion you might like to incorporate...... the guests should bring their pie AND their recipie!! Everyone could swap recipies and therefore enrich the world with lovely lovely PIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It can only be a good thing surely?!

Please could you not do the 5th as I was considering trying to arrange a nice civillised meal out somewhere for my birthday that night (my actual birthday is the 9th, but there's more chance people may be around on the 5th what with Flock and Rammstein, and I'll probably do something quiet on the actual day... although I may do the meal on my actual birthday instead, I'll put something up soon about it anyway :-) )

Oh, and any other date is good for me but I'm not eating pastry at the minute - could I bring pastryless pie instead?

thinking about it the 5th is out as I don't want a rank pie hangover for rammstein the next day...

12th is back on if I can manage to persuade the birthday people to come to my party - I like this idea - valentine's pies with hearts on the top.

Has a burnt pie with to thick pastry and under cooked rat option been taken yet?

as for dates, that would involve planning and having a life etc, hopefully make when ever tho - unless of course I cant ;p
