note to self - just 2 days off drinking between one friday and the sunday of the weekend after does not make for a happy healthy orange! I think I need to slow it down a bit...

epic update alert!

shonky easter on wednesday was great fun. chick tastic! ate my own bodyweight in mini eggs and foam chicks. there were some great hats and some very terrible tunes. the early finish meant that I wasn't too bad the next day and spent most of it pottering around in my room sorting clothes into piles - I've got a decent sized pile for the bring and buy in a couple of weeks now (inc. a lot of size 18 pvc bras with annoyingly small cups - why oh why didn't I just give up!) thursday night's taekwondo lesson was somewhat demanding (lots of sparring - lots) I'm now covered in bruises but I did have some good rounds and am pleased that I appear to be regaining my missing mojo.

friday daytime involved neal and I going on an adventure to huddersfield to rescue my phone from the evil fortress of Jewson. [livejournal.com profile] jacoby_swift picked us up from there and we spend a delightful few hours ligging in his garden with [livejournal.com profile] scarletkitti, [livejournal.com profile] rev_j, [livejournal.com profile] _charlotte__ and [livejournal.com profile] owen_ap drinking wine, eating chocolate coffee beans and quavers. nice. headed out to flock later and had quite a mad evening - if you don't count the bit where will and I fell asleep in the saferoom in the middle of the night. A very fun night - much loon dancing - topped off with a tasty steak and stout pasty from the place on boar lane. yay for 2:30am pasties!

Saturday and sunday afternoon was the geek culture - I had to sleep on the bean bags through the first hour. blee. flock hangover. finally woke up and won a game of acquire, played betrayal at house on the hill and the great dalmuti (a pretty straightforward game made fun by the judicious application of a strict social heirarchy and no hats) sunday was quieter and I was missing the sun somewhat - played some good games though.

I managed to fit in a brief horizontal bed moment on saturday evening before going to imaginary friends. It was suffering from the students not being around but was generally all good fun. I danced like a loon alot again and the night finished with ghostbusters. didn't overdo the g&ts and was glad to go home to my bed at the end of it.

I only had an hour and a half between the end of sunday's geek culture and black sheep - I managed it though - including a bath! Black sheep was amazing - there were already a fair few people there when I got there at 7:30 but in the end it got so full that I had to open up the stage area - thanks to ian for helping me move the heavy table and neal for bean bag wrangling. I probably shouldn't have been up that ladder unhooking the curtains after so much vodka but hey Will was busy behind a heaving bar. a few small stresses picked at my over-stretched nerves - no cider, running out of guest ales, getting locked in the underpass by myself when hunting tables and having to come out by fairuz and run back, the smoke machine getting stuck on and nearly setting off the fire alarms, the men's toilet getting cracked by a bottle again and having to lock up at the end of the night after 6.5 hours of drinking. had a bit of an emo fit on the way home but mr geof rescued me with helpful texts.

was up by 11 yesterday despite the excesses of the previous night. I continued with project 'tame the wilds' - did a bunch of mending and washing and then began to tackle the boxes of crap my dad dumped on me when he moved house. I chucked out years worth of school books - a glance at which proved a tad un-nerving - I was always seen as a pretty damn clever but extremely lazy pupil at school - the school books attest to the laziness but I could find little evidence of the mythical intelligence in them - those teachers must have been psychic or something. this led me into a pretty stark inspection of my life and lack of fulfilment of potential. so I stopped tidying and played diablo II
:P

the bloody laibach gig is re-cancelled.

turns out on further inspection that the venue isn't suitable for the band - I'm really fucked off that the rio's people didn't check this out before telling everyone it was back on - I know for certain that some people have bought tickets since it was re-located. ah well. clearly it was not meant to be. I suppose I'd better look into how long we have to return the tickets and stuff now.

bah!

a nice little game for those dull work hours - it has a pause button too which is handy.

ramblings.

Although I am not supersitious or a believer in spooky things I do enjoy noting occurances of co-incidence and other oddities. On Sunday night I was having quite a disturbing dream with a toy clown puppet in it which kept prodding me - I woke myself up (which I tend to be able to do when I can't handle the content of my dreams any longer) and was feeling a tad unsettled about it (yak! clown puppets! poking me!) when I remembered a terrible record I had as a child which was by Wally Whyton or someone and featured a frankly hideous clown puppet on the front (a completely different clown to the one in my dreams). "ERGH!" thought I, "Why would anyone do that to children?" shudder.
On Sunday and Monday during the day Bradshaw had been on MSN and showing me some very good architectural photos he'd taken and I'd commented that I was jealous because I'd never been good at landscape or architecture photography and tended to be better with portraiture. Whilst telling him I visually recalled 2 particularly poor efforts I'd made whilst doing my a-level art project about victorian architecture in Birmingham and had a little cringe.
So, as you can imagine, when I was clearing the box in the corner of my bedroom (one of several bought up by my dad) last night I was somewhat horrifed to find both the Wally Whyton LP and 6 photos including the 2 I'd remembered.

excellent.
