pour my self a cup of ambition
Jun. 5th, 2006 04:21 pmI swear the weekends are getting shorter...
got home on friday to my lovely pc and tidy lounge, both thanks to the mighty
breadlord - unfortunately I only got to play on it for 15 mins as I had to go to the brudnell social to see thee silver mount zion memorial orchestra and tra la la choir. or whatever they're called. I'm sure they change it slightly everytime they play. anyhoo I was at the front of the queue so got to save some seats for la woo and her buddies. the place was heaving and hotter and sweatier than a fat bloke's armpit. It was nice to see tony and pete briefly but it was just too hot for me to stand up for any length of time. The band were ace although they didn't play the song I was hoping for. how on earth they get 7 people, 3 of whom are playing instruments with bows, on the stage at the brudnell... very much liked the one about dead marines though - must get the album it's on.
went home and installed civ4 on my new pc and played till about 2:30am. it's like shit off a stick. you can play civ4 on the high settings and on the large maps. at the same time!
dragged my ass away from my pc (which is still on the coffee table in the living room) to go to squad training on saturday. and run round the park. in the sun. motherfucker. I hate running. no. more than that. more than you could possibly imagine. it's almost bradshaw levels of venomous hatred. hey ho. I survived. and the rest of squad training. came back had a bath and played some more civ. suffered my first loss due to a space race victory. pfft. going to be seeing alot of those I think.
tootled off to the taekwondo bbq. adam was throwing it for the senior grades and people who help out with the club. there were steaks 2 inches thick. and as much wine as I could drink. as it got cooler we ended up inside playing on the ps2. buzz and the eyetoy were pretty damn entertaining. Then singstar 80s came out. Adam's neighbours must love him. me and jenny were singing '9 to 5' full belt - go us - go dolly. we spent a good couple of hours singing all the tunes on there - such greats as 'eye of the tiger', 'just like heaven' and 'a little respect'. ace. it's a long time since I've sung in public - I now see why karoke is so popular.
had to cancel meeting smiggy for sunday lunch as it was likely I'd have chundered on him. I was too ill to even play civ. went back to bed til 3:30, felt a little better and managed to make it to ian's house for curry.
tonight I give suspicious amounts of cash to shona and vacuum the computer room so I can put my shiny new pc in there. the whole room is coated in a fine layer of walnut shell crumbs at the moment.
orange out.
