OOPSIE!

does anyone remember Sledge Hammer? Mad comedy cop show from late night tv in the late 80s early 90s? Like Dirty Harry on crack. I just ordered the first series on DVD.

It's a spoof of the rap music scene done in a documentary style (well for the first half anyway.) A bunch of middle class kids steal a gangsters identity and start a rap group, only to have the gangster escape from prison to hunt them down…

It’s got some great takes on some classic rap songs, in some cases the spoof versions piss on the originals (Their version of Straight Outta Compton is a hell of a lot better than the original!!!)

I was afraid it'd never be released on DVD - when it was on TV it was only on in the dead zone - about half midnight as I remember. Apparently it was written by a fourteen or fifteen year old kid (presumably with a parent in the industry).
