fuzzygoth's pub crawl of wonderment!
I've badgered
fuzzygoth into arranging his pub crawl for the 31st Jan - ie next Saturday. This should be double good for a lot of you as it's after payday and being a 5th Saturday people hopefully shouldn't have regular commitments :)
So Leeds residents come out and play and lets show Fuzzy (and some of the other newish Leeds peoples like
diceman) where there is to drink in this city and what marvellous people we are :)
There's no itinery set as yet. As he says - eating a hearty lunch is probably a good start - so my suggestion would be starting at the Palace early afternoon as it's sufficiently off to one side of the city centre to allow for directional crawling without looping and does good hearty nosh.
Other pubs I think we should possibly visit:
the Duck and Drake (if it's still the real ale pub of legend that it once was)
Whitelocks
the Angel
the Swan (possibly although it's a bit too posh for my tastes :P )
the Wrens
(any other comments and/or suggestions?)
So who's with us?

Yup, ale, spit and sawdust gawd bless it!

hmm the adelphi - it's one of those places that I'm not 100% sure I'd find with out some wandering!

Very nice food there as well, and it's only a few yards from the Adelphi.

I haven't figured out what I'm doing that weekend. I'm tempted to be in many other places but may not have the energy.

and I put the packhorse on and took it off...

I quite like the old-school alternativeness of the packhorse's jukebox.

packhorse is one of those places that is murdered by sport - it's ok in the summer when you can sit in the alleyway but I always found it a bit disappointing.
plus if we include too many pubs we'll be constantly moving and some people may die of alcohol poisoning so I figure that only going to actively good places is a good idea. the Pin sounds interesting...

I usually feel uneasy in the duck and drake though, and I'm only ever there if I'm dragged along by a crowd. I've never seen the appeal of the place and always had that 'trouble' feeling there.
I've never noticed sport in the packhorse. I've usually gone in on an evening and I don't remember TV screens.

It's my cousin's engagement party that night and it's also (as my mum has told me) a rare chance to see all three kids in the same place at the same time.
