hello people :)

first let me say the obligatory:

YAY! FLOCK! SQUEE!!
am looking forward to seeing Screaming Banshee Aircrew and catching up with the lovely ms toripink tonight. And of course finally getting to see Leed's newest slice of gothorama Legion

anyhoo in further excitement my new 9600GT graphics card and the bigger power supply I will need to run it has arrived today. woo! High Quality fallout3 will be mine. I've only played it for a few minutes so far and am a bit disappointed with the combat system. it's faux steptime. I like to play 'tactical' combat not 'eeek flap bang oops' combat in my rpgs. hopefully I'll get into the swing of things more once I've actually had a chance to play it (houseguests and boyfriends eh? who'd have them :P)

Eep flap bang oops combat seems to be my speciality on that game i have noticed...

I love fallout 3. Once you get a few more weapons and you get used to it the combat becomes tactical again -- particularly as the to hit percentage on body parts changes with angle -- so for some creatures you can go for a "hit them in the right arm continually by circling left" strategy. Also, using the right gun for the right target means you have your more powerful weaponary armed and ready to go when you need it rather than wasting rounds and rounds on a cockroach.

God but I'm bad at it. Within ten minutes of starting I'd got my girlfriend in the Vault killed and the Sherrif of Megaton too!

Legion were very good indeed at Sweeny Todds, despite the column (put it on the dance floor, *not* the stage!). And the SBA rocked last WGW. Am really looking forward to both bands tonight.

How much memory does it have?
You should have gone with the 8800GT, it's only like £10 more & is pretty much future proof for about 2yrs I estimate.
