aw I'm a sad orange. sad and really really out of the loop. I just found out that the beautiful leslie cheung, star of Farewell my Concubine, one of my favorite films (and certainly my favorite of the new chinese cinema from the 90s), killed himself in Hong Kong 4 years ago.
Julian had to virtually give me sedatives after I saw that film. I was still weeping 2 hours later. to this day I find it really hard to watch. damn. and now life mirrors art.

very sad.

Lovely film, that - batshit and fixated on Freud, but it really works emotionally. I didn't know he was dead either. :(

I was quite upset having taken a bit of a shine to him in "The Bride With White Hair" to be told what had happened.

Bloody hell am gutted. As you know i adore that film too. I remember a certain night involving gin, you and 2 solid hours of sobbing after at your house. It's just a beautifully tragic film and he's plays the role to perfection.
