Welcome to Orangetopia!
Jun. 3rd, 2007 12:49 pmnow where was i?
thursday was vat returns and chest of drawers completion. unfortunately due to the existance of skirting boards it wouldn't fit in the gap I bought it for. this leads me to shout WHAT THE FUCK ARE SKIRTING BOARDS FOR ANYWAY?!!? I now have a chest of drawers sticking out of the gap a right angles. can get all the drawers open fully though so it's ok.
ah yes. friday. a day off work to make more housetidying progress. Angie came round at 10 and spent 4 hours in the kitchen washing up, cleaning and mopping. what a star. we had a couple of tea breaks and a samosa break (it's almost worth being unemployed/working odd shifts to hit the 1pm samosa delivery at maumoniats - they're the best ones ever AND they're even more fabulous when they're still warm)
whilst angie laboured in the cellar I attacked the spare room. it's amazing how much stuff can be got out of a seemingly empty room. I got to crawl around under the bed hauling out weights and weight bars - but unfortunately not the clips for keeping the weights on the weight bars. damn. I moved the huge, wooden, wheelless double bed around (an easier but still not in anyway easy task once I'd removed the matress) by 90 degrees to allow al access to the wardrobe - I knew he'd like that being the big girl he is :) then I wrestled with Rubic's fucking Futon for half an hour, trying to make it into a sofa. didn't quite look right when I'd finished (read: given up) but hey.
managed to get 3 rubble sacks of stuff out of the bathroom (admittedly 2 were for the recycling bin and consisted mostly of old magazines and toilet roll tubes - gotta put a recycling bag in the bathroom for future tube collection) - after so many days of tidying a ruthless streak had set in so quite a few naff books were chucked too. bathroom looks pristine at the mo but lacks: a. a working light pull. the light has been on for 2 months or so now. b. a unit to put stuff on as the old one had gone rusty (curse you cheap argos shite!)
flock was loads of fun and filled up nicely eventually. (it does open at 9 you know folks :P) didn't drink too much and didn't feel like death the next day. I went as domme librarian (basically an excuse to keep my glasses on :) ) and wore my fabulous demonia platform shoes with the 5-6" heels. which I can't walk in. so I spent almost the entire night shoeless, dancing in a pair of stockings I found new in a packet as I was cleaning out the spare room. I'm going to assume they were
miss_behave's :D Swifty, alex and bex came over from huddersfield and we had a merry old time dancing like loons.
got up bright an early on saturday, not too hung over and tim came round about 10:45. went to the dump (throwing bags of rubbish is fun!) al eventually turned up and we got him moved in pretty painlessly. sat round drinking tea for a bit then headed off to the pubculture to plot and plan with will and ash. ate all the seafood in the world (this may have been my downfall) chatted with al, joel, graham, and midge and scarped before the soundcheck started getting too loud.
later on I got all dressed up to go to imaginary friends but was feeling a bit rough - as I was waiting for johnny to pick me up I suddenly pulled a massive whitey and realised I was not well! food poisoning! boo! I hoped it'd pass and I'd be able to go to IF as
mofette was there but alas no. hope everyone had fun. was absolutely gutted I couldn't go - especially after missing last month's too.
going to go to town shortly to do the 'history of briggate' walk that starts at 2pm on leeds bridge. only £3 if you're feeling cultured.
