you are only coming through in waves...
Jul. 4th, 2005 10:14 amblee. monday.
so what's going down in the world of the orange? On thursday I had to take taekwondo as Adam was in Boston. Nerve wracking! What to teach?! As it was only 2 white belts turned up - it always gets quiet in the summer when the students bugger off but 2 white belts?! pfft! Ah well I managed to concentrate on basic stuff to the nth degree which no-one had probably done so thoroughly before.
Friday Flock was ace - I wisely chose not to wear pvc. A lovely night was had by almost all. I did a slight detour about 12.45 to take Ross home as he wasn't doing so well then decided to go back. Brad stayed out to the end which was nice. Nice to see Mr Blouse out and about on a regular basis more these days. Me and Kath went back to mine and wibbled for a couple of hours about all sorts of shite.
Saturday involved scooping a rather hungover Kath out of the house and to town as I had an optician's appointment. Sandwiches were obtained from the Gay Sandwich Shop (tm) and hence to new glasses (half price cos of my contact lense contract) and then over to york to meet Geofy. Wibbled round for a bit until my fluid seeking hangover got the better of me then home for live8 and liver and bacon. yum. Turns out mr Geof had hunted down a cutlery set that matches my viners one (by stealing some of my knives and forks) as I appear to have lost most of the forks to mine. What a love! :D
Blobbed around watching live8 and dozing occasionally (warning dozing through madonna can be confusing) Finally got to see Velvet Revolver who were actually a much better band than I thought they'd be - must get some of their stuff - the singer was ace. Robbie Williams was probably good if you like that kind of thing but I just found him to be an annoying cheeky chirpy cunt. The Who were excellent - also much better than I thought they'd be - nice to see mr Townsend still hasn't succumed to old-man-itis and could still rock like a good un. I knew Pink Floyd would be good but they were better than that even - compared to the sound quality of some of the earlier bands they were crystal clear - by the time they got to the chorus of wish you were here I was getting well misty eyed and then they finished on comfortably numb - enought said really - I think I need more floyd - brad's going to kill me...
Sunday Involved eating steak and going to the pictures. Both were excellent. I won't elaborate on the steak but I will elaborate on the pictures. War of the Worlds. Expected it to be shonky and annoying - infact it was well paced, well acted and absolutely terrifying at times. Speilberg's greatest triumph was the sound. This certainly won't be as scarey at home on dvd so go to the pictures to see it - it's bowel shakingly low frequency tastic. I hate Tom Cruise so it just annoys me more that he's a good actor and often appears in good films. Damn him why does he mock me so! The film slowed a bit towards the end but generally it was tense and nasty and loud.
