meme yoinked from darkstones

pick 10 of your favorite films and put quotes up for people to guess:

apologies if any of them are inaccurate as I couldn't find all of them online!

1. I am an aging pillock in the autumn of my years.
2. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten.
3. Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it?
4. Those giraffes you sold me, they won't mate. They just walk around, eating, and not mating. You sold me... queer giraffes. I want my money back.
5. In the place of a Dark Lord you would have a Queen! Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the Morn! Treacherous as the Seas! Stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall love me and despair!
6. I don't care if you like us, 'cause we don't like you. You're a bad person with an ugly heart, and we don't give a flying fuck what you think!
7. You mean, you'll put down your rock and I'll put down my sword, and we'll try and kill each other like civilized people?
8. What a death! What a chance! What a surprise! My will has chosen life!
9. The only thing that bothered me was the actual killing. How does one do that? Hmmm? How does one kill a man? Well it's one thing to dream about it; very different when you, when you have to do it with your own hands.
10. So it would seem.

4 ) Gladiator

5) Lord of the RIngs

7) Princess Bride

10) I feel I should know but don't.

4. Gladiator
5. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
7. Princess Bride

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
correct.
no. 10 is a little concise isn't it? it's all in the delivery.

[identity profile] iicatsii.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
Dammit, I used to have a really good macro image that I made for number 6.

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
mavis beat you to it!

[identity profile] attack-monkey.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
10 would be pirates of the carribean then....

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
there are so many good quotes from blade runner that I found it hard to pick one.

if you could see what I've seen with your eyes.
I need more life, fucker!

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
so it would seem

;)

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
I avoided using quotes with the word 'Poxide' in them.

[identity profile] djimm.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
2 is Jaws

6 is Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion (WHAT A FILM!)

You have exceptional taste

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
aye. and I'm tittering about the giraffe quote.

[identity profile] maviscruet.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
Ahhh yes. Of course it is.

[identity profile] iicatsii.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
There’s a few good quotes about Blade Runner, eg:

“that film is a giant turd”

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
how could anyone with ANY taste not like blade runner. oh. hang on...

[identity profile] iicatsii.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
It was Terry Gilliam that said that, he then went out and made Brazil because of it.

[identity profile] maviscruet.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
Ask [livejournal.com profile] sendraks about how he missed the opertunity to say "You sold me queer parakets" once.....

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
terry gilliam for all his mad creativity does not have taste... which is a good thing.

blade runner and jaws are still my equal favority films. AND I'M NOT GOING TO BE PRETENTIOUS AND PRETEND I PREFER THE DIRECTORS CUT! HA! SEE ME OSTRACISED! I liked the voice over AND THE LACK OF FUCKING UNICORNS!

[identity profile] maviscruet.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Out of interest - does the quote

"Carry on about your bussiness - I am a collector of unusal insects" mean anything to you? And if not I shall have to inflict the video upon you one day.

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:57 am (UTC)(link)

::the fear::

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
sounds slightly familiar...

[identity profile] maviscruet.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps linked to

"I took the liberty of replacing of the concreate with Miss Fentons scone mix - I gambled that the water would make the soggy".

"Good lord - nothing else ever did"

And

"scatter everybody - it's a bomb Gateau"

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 11:11 am (UTC)(link)
he may be but sticking a filthy unicorn scene from legend, the film that redefined 'greasy', is unforgivable

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
nah. seems familiar but I'm not sure I know it.

[identity profile] maviscruet.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
WEll then I'll have to inflict it upon you at some point. It may well be my favourite movie of all time.

[identity profile] fetishman.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
am i allowed to play? i'm sure i'm not allowed to play.

[identity profile] fetishman.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
it's definitely whetted my appetite for nonsense filmery

Lollercaust

[identity profile] iicatsii.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack Sparrow gets eaten by the Kraken
Jason White is Superman’s son
The Fugees reunite
Donna is actually "Hank".
Dante and Randal buy the Quick Stop

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
of course you are. you just have to deduce it from what you know of me. am I the sort of orange that would put the answers to really obvious films or hard ones ;)

Re: Lollercaust

[identity profile] cloneboy.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
who is donna and hank?

[identity profile] fetishman.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
well considering i only watched 9 the other day, and 1 has taught you everytthin you wish to know, it seemed a little mean to cut the speculation short so quickly. didn't know the jaw's quote and i needed prompting for the romy and michelle one.

[identity profile] fetishman.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, and in answer to your question: you're the kind of person who picks their actual ten favourite films (irrespective of how obscure) and then picks quotes that are more obscure for the ones you believe people should find easy (i.e. 2) and less obscure for the hard ones (i.e. 1).

Re: Lollercaust

[identity profile] cloneboy.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
the first review sells it for me

"Dick fans and drug film lovers rejoice"

[identity profile] maviscruet.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Cracking. So when we having a nonse film night and where?

[identity profile] fetishman.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] maviscruet.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. I don't have any Friday nights plans at the momment. Terrible thing to admit....

....mind you - your proberbly out dancing the night away.

[identity profile] fetishman.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
if by dancing you mean waving bamboo swords at people then yes, i am a man with plans.

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
indeed rather shocked only you have got no.1 I suppose I should have put something ~really~ obvious like 'dolly! dolly you've got a willy!'

and still no one gets no 8. I may have to give clues or a second quote.

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
did you notice that the question was a bastardised quote?

[identity profile] darkstones.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Is no 9 Amadeus?

[identity profile] maviscruet.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I did.... But then I'm a princess bride looon.

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
yes! yes it is.

[identity profile] darkstones.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
That was a kind of instinctive guess - I haven't seen Amadeus since it came out in the cinema. The mind is a funny thing.

[identity profile] dracven.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
Apologies for the late arrival, courses doncha know.

Number 8 - The Piano, Holly Hunter and Sam Neill.

I

[identity profile] dracven.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't bother with the rest as I saw they were all gone.

[identity profile] sarah-orange.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
thank god someone got it! all done now.

[identity profile] dracven.livejournal.com 2006-07-27 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
You'm welcome. The second set is a lot harder though.
