I recommend the kind of masala tea that a very nice hotel served me in India when I was complaining of a cold. Sorted me right out, I can tell you!
As far as I can gather, you boil up a small amount of tea with cardamom, cinnamon, loads of ginger, star anise, crushed peppercorns, cloves, a dash of lemon and some honey for about 5 minutes. I've done it a few times since and definitely works, although I'm not sure whether it just burns your mouth so much that you forget about your cold, or whether it really helps, but I can say that I feel better afterwards!
