happy new year and all that

Hello chums.

I just got back (well it was actually nearly 2 hours ago now) to chez orange after my new year's festivities.

NYE at Barrow Hill (near chesterfield) was very lovely. present were [livejournal.com profile] tomb_bat, marquis (the hosts of the event), [livejournal.com profile] metzkass, wesley, marconi, amy, lee and his two women whose names I didn't actually catch of lost due to drunkenness, [livejournal.com profile] bikerfaerie, [livejournal.com profile] twokan, [livejournal.com profile] miss_corinne, chewie and of course [livejournal.com profile] fuzzygoth. there may have been others - I may have been drunk. unfortunately corinne was already a little worse for wear when I got there - that'll teach me to arrive at 8:30. Sue and John's house is absolutely beautiful - the living room is panelled! I got a bit over-enthusiastic about it :D I found myself playing with a cat on one of the beds then another then another until I was playing with 4 cats. woo! cattopia! then I realised it was 12:15 and I'd missed new year. ah well! marvellous.

woke up on a sofa with a duvet over me - no idea how that happened - don't really remember that much of the evening apart from playfighting with the boys and swapping bras with Fury in the middle of the living room - without flashing any boob. we finally left about 3pm ish or something the next day after ligging around watching fuzzy drink another crate of beer.

Was getting a lift back to birmingham with corinne to see [livejournal.com profile] eddy_ and on the motorway there was an information sign saying 'vehicle fire ahead' blimey we thought, that's oddly specific... when we got closer we could see a column of smoke. and flames. it was a complete inferno! we were glad to see the driver standing well back looking a bit shell shocked - as were the police who arrived at a similar time to us. we could feel the heat from the fire as we went past. blimey - the WHOLE thing was on fire or already charred. I was a bit too shocked to take photos - but it was very impressive and scary.

Birmingham was ace. we played singstar for *hours* and did every song (from singstar 80s and 90s) at least once I think. got better at singing as I got more drunk (as proved by the scores) - it was quite evenly matched though and me, corinne and eddy seemed to take it in turns to win on the duels. marvellous fun. there was pizza too - can't argue with that... Finally managed to catapult eddy from his bed at about 3 today and have mostly being sitting round staring and going 'graaa' due to reduced brain function. I got to meet the delightful [livejournal.com profile] toxicpixie properly too, although the poor fluff was still a bit under the weather from his xmas flu. had a bit of a panic about the over-running train works affecting my journey back to leeds but in the end it was all ok and I was back at 11.

so now I'm here in a freezing house with nothing but an over-affectionate cat for company. bah! oh well. happy new year folks - I hope this year is significantly better for those of you that had a bad one last year. I can't begin to guess how mine will turn out - several potentially bad things are looming on the horizon as ever but life often throws in patches of unexpected good stuff too. I know the 2 things I want from this year - one I really need and the other I really want. who knows eh?
