hmm just been checking the imdb for the fourth harry potter film (seeing as I'm just re-finishing the book) some interesting casting choices - I've been thinking about the casting as I've been reading and trying to work out who they might have. they have miranda richardson as rita skeeta, the dad out of 28 days later as mad-eye, trigger as barty crouch and francis de la tour (from rising damp) as madame maxine. there doesn't appear to be a ludo bagman - I know they've cut a lot out but that seems somewhat odd unless its a mistake on the page.

the guy who did donnie brasco is directing.

He'd've been a good Mr weasley I think. Not sure I'd've cast trigger as Barty crouch - presume this is barty crouch senior? I reckon Mr bronson would've been best! Can't believe there's no mention of Ludo Bagman i had a look around and couldn't find anything. I really hated the last film, didn't think they explained the plot very well, mind you chamer of secrets wasn't much better either, with that giod awful schmaltz of an ending. Goblet of Fire's my favourite so I'm really hoping it's not going to be too awful.

dunno - if you've seen him in preaching to the perverted then I think he'll be ok for it. I can imagine the moustache already.

I think the third one hung together better as a film than the other 2 and didn't shoe horn all the plot into the last few minutes cos they'd spent to much time on quidditch.

the casting has generally been spot on. apart from I never really liked richard harris as dumbledore. the main teachers are excellent and the weasleys are ace - I suspect julie walters was born to play molly weasley :)

only at the very beginning - it will probably get cut right down. hopefully. and at least it's more to do with the plot rather than being a cynical special effects/appease the kids ploy

I don't know, there's a quidditch game coming out on the PSP and you know they'll use the movie to shift units!!!

I thought it was Tom Bell in preaching to the perverted? or was it trigger who played the posh woman's husband? hmm maybe then. I've always imagined barty crouch as a very skinny extremely severe looking man - rather like Herr flick from allo allo (without the comedy).

As for the last film, I did think they'd shoehorned the plot into the last few minutes of the film. I got really fed up with the 'swooping shots of hogwarts' and didn't feel they took enough time in explaining the whole sirius/Lupin etc connection.

Agree most of the casting is fab - Maggie smith was born to be professor macgonnagal and robbie coltrane's a great Hagrid too. And as for Alan rickman as Snape, I don't think a part has ever been more perfect. It's got to the stage i can't read the books without hearing alan rickmans voice when Snape's speaking.

indeed - I read them all in the appropriate voices now!

I felt they needed the hogwarts stuff in the last one as they'd cocked it up so badly in the first two - the production design finally hit the right note - shabby grandeur - then again I'm a sucker for good production design.
